New PandORA-supported publication on high-pressure CO₂ phase behaviour

A new scientific publication supported by PandORA has been published in Fluid Phase Equilibria, contributing new experimental and modelling knowledge relevant to CO₂-based processes.

The study, entitled “High-pressure phase behaviour of the carbon dioxide + n-heptane system: a model system with experiments, modelling, and critical literature assessment”, was authored by Sergiu Sima and Catinca Secuianu from the National University of Science and Technology POLITEHNICA Bucharest.

The research presents new experimental data on the vapour–liquid equilibrium and critical behaviour of the carbon dioxide + n-heptane system across a wide range of temperatures and pressures. These new measurements are combined with an extensive assessment of previously published data and with thermodynamic modelling using several equations of state.

The work provides a more consistent description of the behaviour of CO₂-containing mixtures under high-pressure conditions and highlights some of the challenges involved in accurately modelling phase equilibria and critical behaviour. Such reliable experimental data and thermodynamic models are important for the development and optimisation of processes involving CO₂, including applications related to carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS).

The publication explicitly acknowledges support from COFUND-PandORA.
